Traditional Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive health care system consisting of a variety of traditional health care therapies with more than 3,000 years history to diagnose and treat illness, prevent disease and improve wellness.
Traditional Chinese Medicine considers health as the balance of the body's energy systems. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are the two most well known practices in Traditional Chinese Medicine to restore the balance of our body.
From Western point of view, acupuncture activates the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland to adjust the secretion of neurotransmitters and neurohormones. It results in systemic change to address a broad spectrum of endocrine and circulatory conditions. For example, acupncture alleviates stress by releasing natural pain-killing chemicals (endorphins) in the brain. In addition, it improves blood circulation, which cycles out cortisol, a stress hormone released by adrenal gland.
Acupuncture has been recognized by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WTO) to be effective in the treatment of a wide variety of medical problems. Please see our FAQ for more detailed information.
